I have been fascinated by space and research for as long as I can remember. Back in kindergarten the plan was that I would become a researcher, and in upper secondary school I took the research track. By the time I had to choose what to study, my interest had shifted towards developing and building things myself.

What finally sent me towards electronics was quite simple: I watched people build cool projects on YouTube and wanted to learn how to make circuit boards myself. That led to a bachelor's degree in electronics, further studies in mechatronics and now a master's degree in electronic systems design at NTNU.

What I like most about development work is finding a good solution to the actual requirements. To me, good electronics is not about making things as complicated as possible, but about understanding the problem, making sound technical choices and ending up with something you can rely on.

Along the way I also ended up quite deep in student life and volunteering. I have held leadership positions, worked with student politics, finance and organisational development, and been brought in when organisations needed help with bylaws, guidelines or structure. It started with me getting a little involved. Then, as volunteering tends to go, it got completely out of hand.

Through my studies I also found my way back to my old interest in space, this time not just as something I wanted to explore, but as something I could actually help develop technology for.

I have worked both technically and with people, including customer service, student organisations and project work. It has taught me that a good solution does not just have to work technically. It also has to fit the people, the need and the constraints it will be used within.

NOW

Life is like a road trip

Over time it has become a kind of life motto for me. You roughly know where you want to go, but not necessarily which road you will take to get there. Some detours are planned, others are not. The important thing is to keep moving, learn along the way and not be afraid to change the route.
